Pragolod 14 is particularly suitable for the degreasing and cleaning of the steel and cast iron substrates between two subsequent technological operations and should be applied by spraying. It contains low-foaming surfactants and, hence, is convenient to be especially used for machinery cleaning, e.g. in the WAP spraying machines or in cleaning desks in the shops. Furthermore, it may be alternatively applied for cleaning at lower temperatures and, therefore, for both machinery as well as hand-assisted cleaning operations as a replacement for solvent-based degreasers including chlorine hydrocarbons. To boost the anticorrosion protection affect of the agent, its elevated concentration within 3 – 5% and drying without a preliminary rinse should be employed. Pragolod 14 is a liquid alkaline agent for combined technological operations degreasing together with surface passivation and is formulated on the basis of both low-foaming surfactants of high biodegradability and corrosion inhibitors. It should be particularly used for both spraying and immersion degreasing of steel and cast iron substrates and tumbling of ferrous metals. Besides, it may be used for passivation of ferrous metals after pickling or other technological operations in water – based agents if an active steel surface is needed to be pasivated. Pragolod 14 is completely free of any inorganic components which otherwise might cause salt deposits on the cleaned but still unrinsed surface. It is also applicable for the passivation of the ferrous surfaces after other degreasing operations, pickling in acids or tumbling operations of steel parts together with the passivation. At the agent formulation, both low foaming and passivating efficiency were emphasized and, therefore, compared with the similar agents of, however, enhanced foamability such as Pragolod Grato 12, Pragolod 13 or Pragolod 44, displays a slightly inferior degreasing performance. Pragolod 14 is a clear colourless or yellowish alkaline liquid (pH value within 10 – 11) completely miscible with water, the clouding point of the 5% bath being about 33 – 38°C and the pH value about 10.
